Grief filled day

I just came back from a funeral for a 5 year old girl.

Horrible, Terrible, Tragic, Horrendous, Gut-wrenching, Unspeakably painful.

So many feelings. Such terrible hurt.

Too many tears. Not enough tears.

No mother should ever have to bury her child. Ever.

But Hashem decided that this little girl fulfilled her purpose here on Earth and took her back.

Hashem gives and Hashem takes.

But the pain is still there no matter what.

Elisha, there are no words. We just can't understand such a tragedy. I'm still in such total shock. I'm heading off to teachers meeting at jdby in a few minutes. how do we explain this to our students? Hashem Yerachem!!

The mother of the child - N. was Ate's teacher last year. I feel she was struggling enough in her life, and still - always had a smile on her face and kind words to say, and then THIS... I can not wrap my head around it. My heart goes out to her, and this community of ppl, who have been sharing in grief (all summer long it seems)

The thing I gather most, from many unfortunate events this summer, is to never take our children for granted, and even when they drive us nuts - let them know how much we love and appreciate them.

The teachers meeting at jdby was very good. A group of social workers were there, along with Mrs. Wainhaus and Mrs. Reinglass. We had a webcam with Dr. Norman Blumenthal and another woman, whose name I don't remember. We talked about how to respond to such a tragedy to our students- to the school as a whole and to specifically the kindergarten. What to say, what to look out for in students who are having a hard time dealing with this etc. For example, her teacher asked "what should we do with her cubby?". That's a very good question. Mrs. Wainhaus said there will be parent session on Wed night. to come ask questions.
